Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Common symptoms of COVID-19 in children include fever, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, runny nose, and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Some children may have mild or no symptoms, while others may develop severe illness. It's important to consult with a healthcare provider if you suspect your child may have COVID-19 or if they are experiencing any concerning symptoms.
The majority of children will pull through Covid with rest and plenty of fluids but obviously if symptoms do not disapear after a couple of days or your child shows signs of deterirating then you should contact your doctor immediately. In addition, encourage your child to cover their mouth when they sneeze or cough.
